AWS is making significant changes to its data center strategy, emphasizing innovative Liquid cooling technology to meet the rising demand for AI workloads. This statement came ahead of Amazon’s main cloud computing conference, AWS re:Invent 2024, which will take place in Las Vegas.

Liquid Cooling For AI Servers

Adding liquid cooling to AWS’s AI servers is a major component of the company’s new approach. The company will use this technology to create custom Trainium processors as well as Nvidia accelerators. AWS highlights that its forthcoming Trainium2 chips and AI supercomputing solutions, such as the NVIDIA GB200 NVL72, will be cooled by liquid systems. This will improve the performance and efficiency of intensive AI activities while also providing a customizable cooling solution for a variety of workloads.

Cooling Design: Multimodal

AWS is also launching a multimodal cooling concept that combines air and liquid cooling. While certain servers, such as those used for networking and storage, may not need liquid cooling, others will benefit from increased efficiency. This design is adaptable to satisfy the needs of both traditional computing and AI models.

Simplified Server Design for Higher Efficiency

In addition to liquid cooling, AWS is simplifying the electrical and mechanical complexity of its servers and racks. The modifications will boost infrastructure availability to 99.9999%. AWS’s more simplified design reduces the number of racks affected by electrical problems by 89%, resulting in more dependable and efficient data centers. These adjustments are likely to involve the use of DC power, which reduces energy losses during the conversion phases.

Energy-Efficient and Sustainable

Prasad Kalyanaraman, AWS’s Vice President of Infrastructure Services, underlined that these new developments would improve energy efficiency while also facilitating the growth of generative AI applications. The modular architecture of these systems also enables AWS to upgrade existing data centers with liquid cooling. These modifications are designed to reduce AWS’ carbon footprint and strengthen its sustainability efforts.

Encouraging Future Growth

AWS’s new multimodal cooling system and upgraded power delivery systems are intended to manage a sixfold increase in rack power density over the next two years, with plans for a threefold rise thereafter. The company is also using AI to optimize rack layout, resulting in more efficient power utilization throughout its data centers.

Collaborating with Nvidia.

According to Ian Buck, VP of Hyperscale and HPC at Nvidia, liquid cooling will assist manage the power demands of AI workloads more efficiently. The collaboration between AWS and Nvidia will ensure that difficult AI activities are carried out with remarkable performance and energy economy.
With these enhancements, AWS lays the groundwork for more powerful, energy-efficient, and sustainable AI computer architecture.

Vivo has recently announced the launch of the Funtouch OS 15. It is based on Android 15 and is currently available only as a beta version.

This new launch by Vivo is built on Android’s fluid system and certain elements that make the OS what it is. Vivo exchanges Android’s Fair Scheduling algorithm with its own Priority Scheduling model. It can be seen that Funtouch focuses more on computing power for the purpose of foreground processes. Results therefore result in a 15% increase in speed when a user opens an app, even when the system goes through overload.

There is also an impressive 40% compression speed increase. This is all due to the optimised zRAM memory compression algorithm. In addition, users will also be able to run their multiple apps smoothly without any lags. Vivo has also brought in Origin Animation which aids in improving the smoothness of animation and responsiveness of interactions. The Aqua Dynamic Effect also improves upon the system interactions coupled with animated effects making the while interacting feel more natural and smoother.

Funtouch OS 15: More Features and Device Availability

The Funtouch OS 15 comes with more than 3,800 revamped design elements which also include fonts, illustrations, system colours and more. The new Funtouch OS makes for a more minimalistic design and aesthetic. Furthermore, users have a wide range of customization options.

An AI-powered feature called the AI Image Lab enables users to enhance their photo quality automatically. Users can also remove a document’s shadows. The Ultra Game Mode has also introduced a sidebar that contains game tools, and a performance panel. The Game Small Window has also been added. The addition of the sidebar makes it easier and quicker to access apps and adjust settings.

The Funtouch OS 15 will be available on Vivo X Fold3 Pro, iQOO 12, and the X100 Series. These devices can commence the upgrade around October.

Cthulhu Stealer, a macOS malware virus has been attacking users’ Apple data. Cybersecurity experts have gained new Intel on the mallard that has been targeting Apple macOS hosts.

The malware named Cthulhu Stealer has been said to be able to attack x87_64 as well as Arm architectures. This malware has been offered up as a service model for approximately $500 monthly since 2023.

Cthulhu Stealer: Background on the malware

Cthulhu Stealer has been dubbed as an Aple disk image combining two binaries dependent on the architecture. The malware has been stated to be written in Golang and it pretends to be a real software to trap people.
software such as Adobe GenP and CleanMyMac are among the impersonated proforma.

Steaking the credentials and cryptocurrency wallets from different stores is the main aim of this malware. Cthulhu Stealer has been compared to the likes of Atomic Steaker. Some have even speculated that Cthulhu modified Atomic Stealer’s code.
Users who have launched the unsigned file are asked to type in their passwords. This technique has been termed the osascript-based technique, which has been used by Atomic Stealer, MacStealer and so on.

Despite its nature, Cthulhu is not remarkable and does not stand out in its market. However, users are still cautioned about the type of files they download online.

iCloud Private Relay is currently facing a global outage that is affecting users across the globe. This outage started on the 25th of June and persists even to this day.

Apple devices have been affected by this outage and users are experiencing restrictions from using Safari and other apps that require an internet connection. The tech giant has therefore confirmed on its System Status page that there is currently an issue with the iCloud Private Relay. Apple has stated that the service might be unavailable or slow for some users.

Users whose web browsing and app experience has been affected by this outage can turn off the service until the outage is solved. Users can turn off Private Realy through the iCloud Settings option.

iCloud Private Relay Outage and What the Service Is

iCloud Private Relay is a subscription service under iCloud+ and this service helps users safeguard their privacy while they use the Safari browser. Users who are subscribed to iCloud+ can access this service.

Additionally, the service forwards all of the user’s appeals in two different relays. The first relay is handled by Apple, while the other is handled by third parties. Since third parties handle the second relay, Apple does not know which sites users are browsing.

As iCloud Private Relay oversees the user’s internet requests, this outage has consequently affected the web browser’s performance.

CrowdStrike Falcon has caused a Microsoft outage affecting various sectors around the world with its new update. Microsoft Windows PCs all over the world are currently facing the ‘Blue Screen of Death’ and other technical errors.

The Microsoft outage has affected sectors such as IT, airlines, hospitals and more as PCs and other devices are being forced to restart or shut down. In many cases, users are experiencing the Blue Screen of Death, which is Microsoft’s indication of a system crash. Thus, devices showing this error screen have to be shut down immediately to avoid the risk of damage.

This Microsoft outage has been confirmed to be caused by CrowdStrike Falcon’s new update called the Falcon Sensor. In addition, George Kurtz, CEO of CrowdStrike has issued an apology to customers. Furthermore, Kurtz has assured that this outage is an isolated incident and not a cyberattack or security breach. The company is also currently working alongside Microsoft to fix the issue.

It should be noted that the outage does not affect personal computers as the cybersecurity company does not offer retail devices.

CrowdStrike Falcon – More on the company

CrowdStrike is a cybersecurity company from the United States and Falcon is a product by the company that aims to keep organisations safe from malware, breaches, and cyber-attacks.

UTM SE is the first official emulator approved by Apple to be used in iOS, iPad and visionOS. With this move, the emulator is the first of its kind to be listed on the Apple Store. It should however be noted that the emulator can only support retro and classic games.

Apple had previously rejected UTM’s application to list the emulator in the App Store. The tech giant had stated that the platform was not considered an emulator. There are no concrete explanations as to why Apple revised this decision.

UTM SE: More on This Emulator

The emulator is free to download and is considered easy to use. UTM also supports several outputs such as a mouse, keyboard, Apple Pencil, controllers and touchpad. Furthermore, it is supported by Quick Emulator (qemu), which includes more than thirty processors such as the RISC-V, x86_64 and ARM64.

Image credits: Screenshot taken from the website

UTM has stated on their official website that the emulator cannot play a majority of modern games. This is because Apple A-chips cannot support hardware virtualisation, thus leading to the recompilation of the ARM code with JIT. Consequently, performance will not be as good when compared to those with KVM.

Besides iOS, the emulator can also be run on Windows, and Linux. Although, the emulator works best and is much more secure on iOS.
